Observing World Day Against Child Labour on 12th June 2015.

CEPC/CL/Cir-Mem/2015-16                  Dated the 11th June 2015

All Members CEPC,

Subject:   Observing World Day Against Child Labour on 12th June 2015.

We would like to inform that the International Labour Organization (ILO) launched the World Child Labour Day in 2002 to focus attention on the global extent of child labour and the action and efforts needed to eliminate it.  Each year on 12th June, the World Day brings together Governments, employers and workers’ organizations, civil society, as well as millions of people from around the world to highlight child labourers and what can be done to them.

You are aware that this Council has formulated a Code of Conduct for its Member Exporters which require its member exporters to ensure that their carpets are woven only on the looms registered by this Council having no Child labour as prohibited by the Child Labour Prohibition & Regulation Act, 1986.

We would request our Members to please educate their suppliers, weavers and loom owner’s not-to-use any Child Labour in any process of carpet weaving.

   Yours faithfully,
