Sub.: Damaging Carpets during Price & Quality Determination by Custom Authorities.
During the meeting with Hon’ble Minister of Textiles with Stakeholders of Handmade Carpet Industry on 23rd October, 2016 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi it has been brought to the notice of the Hon’ble Minister by some one that Custom Authorities at various ports are damaging their carpets by cutting them into pieces for verification/ testing purpose to determine the value, quality etc. of the Carpets meant for exports.
The Government has taken it very seriously that why the expensive carpets are damaged by the Custom Authorities. Therefore, this Council has been asked to send the details of all such cases. As such we would request you to kindly send the following details of all such cases to this Council on urgent basis to enable us to take up the matter appropriately with concerned authorities :
1. Name of the Exporter
2. Details of products
3. Details of Shipment like Invoice/ Shipping Bill No. & Date.
4. Details of the Port
