Sub.: Exports to China.

Sir,

          A meeting under the Chairmanship of Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce was held on 22nd January, 2013 at Udyog Bhawan, New Delhi with regard to greater market access, removal of TBTs and to explore  possibility of enhancing India’s Export to China beside removal of certain bottlenecks and resolving issues with China. In the meeting it was also mentioned that a delegation under the leadership of Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce is being deputed to China in the month of February, 2013 in this regard. The request of this Council for reduction of Import Duty on Handmade Carpets is under consideration of the Govt. In the meantime Ministry desired to know the names of the exporters who are exporting Carpets and other floor coverings alongwith value of exports during last 2 years into China.

          We would, therefore, request, if you are exporting to China,  to please send the total value of exports made by your firm to China during last 2 years,  so that the same could be compiled for onward submission to the Ministry of Commerce.

          An early action in this regard will be highly appreciated.
